How Much Will Mediation Cost?

The cost of family mediation is usually significantly lower than using court proceedings to resolve family disputes. If you are addressing both finance and children issues we find most clients conclude mediation within 3 to 5 sessions.

Our Charges

These are our standard charges for mediation (which are inclusive of VAT). We aim to work flexibly and can adapt the standard session duration and adopt different mediation models to suit your needs:

MIAMs

The MIAM fee is £125 for a face to face session or £100 for a MIAM online via Zoom/Teams. An additional £40 administration fee is payable if you request a Court form after your MIAM.

Session Charges

Following the MIAM, mediation sessions are charged at an hourly rate of £125 per person. We usually schedule either 1 hour 30 minute or 2 hour meetings and you can therefore expect charges of £187.50 or £250 each per session.

After your MIAM appointments you may wish to apply to the Ministry of Justice Mediation Voucher Scheme. The voucher enables you to access £500 towards the joint cost of family mediation if you will be discussing child arrangements during mediation. This is not means assessed and does not need to be repaid. The £500 voucher cannot be used against the cost of the initial MIAM. Further details can be accessed at: Family Mediation Voucher Scheme - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

We will provide you both with a session summary after the meeting (at no extra charge). This summary records your discussions/ decisions made and includes an action list as a reminder of enquiries to be made or points of reflection prior to your next session. These summaries are private and confidential to mediation.

There is no additional fee for mediation in separate spaces (also known as shuttle mediation).

Preparation & Document Charges

Work carried out between sessions is charged at £125 per person per hour. This includes document charges for preparing your Summary of Proposals/Open Financial Statement/ Parenting Plan.

Child Inclusive Mediation

Child inclusive mediation costs £125 per parent/carer per consultation. This includes an initial briefing meeting, the session with the child(ren) and a feedback meeting.

Legal Aid

Legal Aid is available for those who pass capital and income tests. We do not offer Legal Aid for Mediation, however we can help you to assess whether you will qualify for Legal Aid. Please let us know if you would like to check if you may be eligible for Legal Aid before booking your MIAM.
